Quick check: Is your digital content accessible to all of your students?

When we talk about TALE, we often picture moving between in-person, remote, or hybrid, learning environments. But TALE is also describing the integration of teaching strategies across learning environments: using web-based tools within the in-person classroom, flipping instruction to use web-based resources for content-heavy instruction, and focusing on tactile learning in person, etc. In both cases, increasing the accessibility of technology is essential for TALE. The POUR model, developed by the National Center on Accessible Educational Materials for Learning at CAST, offers four key principles to help educators ensure that their digital content is accessible for all students, including students with disabilities – whether learning is happening in person or remotely.
